HVAC/R Students Working on Equipment

The Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in HVAC/R Program at CCCC will provide unique opportunities enhancing workplace skills, such as hands-on setting of HVAC/R Units in a Commercial and/or residential incubator setting.
Extensive hands-on experience operating relevant trucks, trailers, heavy equipment, lifts, performing rigging tasks, setting roof top packaged units, loading hauling and unloading HVAC/R industry equipment materials to job sites that will providing versatile skills sets to the successful student.
Employers will know that CCCC HVAC/R graduates have training and real world experience with industry leading technology, equipment, tools and supplies making them a valuable ready to work employee.
Combining these skills sets with the Associate degree level of education, further provides employers with a diverse human resource capital that may serve in supervisory, or management level responsibilities.
The unique entrepreneurial seminar contained within our degree program enhances the business understanding of our graduates, and translates to a stronger awareness as an employee or entrepreneur of the logistics of the service business. This enhances people skills, and customer service skills which are paramount in any business.

Program Outcomes

• The student will identify the refrigeration process.
• The student will identify components in the refrigeration cycle.
• The student will demonstrate entry level skills used in the field, by NCCER curriculum standards.
• The student will demonstrate understanding of the sheet metal industry.
• Student will demonstrate the understanding of the layout process of the fittings.

Aptitude/Preparation

Because HVAC/R systems are increasingly complex, employers generally prefer applicants with technical training or those who have completed a formal apprenticeship. Some states and localities require technicians to be licensed.

Program Characteristics

The HVAC/R AAS Degree Program at CCCC is positioned to offer the student exceptional, regional leading opportunities in the following areas:
Technology: training software, mobile/hand held technology, interactive classroom technology and cohesive PC/MAC computers will prepare the student for the industry future
Equipment: industry trucks, trailers, mobile labs, forklifts, incubators, scissor lifts, hands-on trainers and tools provide real world experience with industry equipment enhancing the workplace skills and abilities of the student
Work Immersion: partnerships with community programs will provide hands-on training repairing, maintaining and installing HVAC/R systems. Students will experience real world scenarios in HVAC/R.

Faculty

The HVAC/R faculty are professionals in the field of HVAC/R who have been employed and are still active in the field and continue to upgrade their skills outside the classroom. The student/teacher ratio is approximately 20:1 and allows ample one-on-one instruction as well as the competitive advantage of a group environment.
